Taxes, it's all about taxes, 'cause if they had Oreo cookies in the 1920's they wouldn't have made pot illegal. Ya' see, it grows from the dirt and slaves took too long to cultivate it. I (snicker) was going to say something else, but hey, where's my Marta Breeze card, Yeah, Breezin' that was a good record, George Benson, yeah, remember Benson & Hedges, man....
I agree Liquor is legal and Pot is not what did they do tax the H--L out of it and people still buy it now. Pot the gvt claims is a drug but if they just taxed it look at the revenues they would receive. You would stop the smuggleing and ...some of the wars between cartels and gangs oh what about the medicinal purposes. I could go on and on but as long as there is undergroud profit in it the gvt will not legalize it.
Legalize.....but no smoking is restaurants, etc. etc...just like tobacco cigarettes. I'd smoke a joint if I knew it 1) wasn't laced with something and 2) was legal (need to keep my clearance!). A production joint would probably better a quality joint.
You know they say that pot leads to other harder drugs but I can attest to the fact that it leads to overeating and laughing your ass off. I know people who have only smoked pot and never tried anything else. I know people who smoke pot, meth, and use any other type of mood or mind altering substance they can get their hands on. It all depends on the person. Alcohol causes many, many deaths each year yet it is still legal. People eat themselves into diabeties and heart attacks but there is no law against gastronomic suicide. I don't know all the answers but it seems a little stupid to me.
However re: Pot/grass/maryjane itself: Legalize it. NOW. Regulate it. Ensure safety and that it is not too potent. Then, license growers, transporters, and a few responsible businesses and tax the 'h*ll' out of it and give some revenue to the folks.
Open over 21 pot clubs with great local bands...simply limit how much folks can buy.
Let's just be grown up about this. Few folks go on to harder drugs from high school pot hijinx!
Also: big government: stop spending so much of our money.
Education: use pot money to help fund private and charter schools and FIRE the bad teachers...Dump the teachers' unions....and let's get our kids 'edumacated' properly!
I've never smoked anything and have no desire to do so, but I don't see any particular reason for either tobacco or marijuana to be illegal.
It's concerning to me that more and more, people seem to think it's their business what other people do. I'm very much in favor of providing information, as with the calorie information in NYC, but people should be able to make their own choices.
Now ya'll know you don't want someone who does work with kids who abuse drugs and commit crimes to get in on the conversation on legalizing pot.....it's hard enough to keep them off the booze! If you do that you'd have to do as Kate suggested and fund more research and services to reduce addiction......let's use our time and resources to help folks explore their creative juices...something more positive....
I'm in love with Mary Jane She's my main thing She makes me feel alright She makes my heart sing And when I'm feelin' low She comes as no surprise Turns me on with her love Takes me to paradise....
Do you love me Mary Jane Yeah, whoa whoa whoa Do ya oh ya Do ya oh ya Do ya oh ya Now do you think you love me Mary Jane Don't you play no games....
Cancer stickes (cigarettes) should be illegal and no longer made. Second hand smoke more than likely contributed to my cancer.
I think marijuana should continue to be illegal. Everyone alway thinks anytime the government says will go toward education.,the answer is yes. The truth is that most of the money does not go toward what it suppose to go to. For instance ...the Lottery. Schools are laying off, cutting days. Where is the money. We also create other problems addiction to gambling and other drugs. Let tax alcohol, most people will say no. We will tax smokers, overweight people, but we won't take alcohol. Lets take all of the bad habits. Why do we need to research addictions. I have worked in mental health and addictive disease for 20 years, ask me. If you consistantly use hard drugs, you will be an addict.
Well you certainly don't hear any reports about harmful effects of second-hand smoke from marijuana. And it does serve a medicinal purpose. Everything I know about cigarettes is negative. They don't even make the person smoking look cool and they stain the teeth. I am not aware of marijuana staining the teeth. So I guess I would rather have it the other way around = Pot legal. Cigarettes illegal.

ReplyDeleteIf it was legal, the revenue could be used to improve our educational fund and help the economy in so many ways.

Legalize pot...let's just use common sense.
I'm done politicking now!
and if we do open pot nightclubs, let the folks smoke Winstons and Kools in there, too...
ReplyDeleteStop the nanny state...
and let me eat those Crisco fries, too, if you don't mind!
Legalize pot and use the proceeds to fund addiction research.

Turns me on with her love
Takes me to paradise....

Now do you think you love me Mary Jane
Don't you play no games....

By the way, I do not do either:-)
